Manufacturing Operations Buyer/Planner

Postion Overview

We are looking for a candidate to coordinate the day-to-day purchasing activities and long term forecasting necessary to ensure on-time delivery of our line of remote sensing cameras and accessories. The Buyer/Planner’s responsibilities include creating and updating purchase orders for material, maintaining inventory schedules, coordinating with internal departments, and managing external relations with suppliers and contract manufacturers. A successful candidate should be able to ensure the appropriate supply of cost-efficient and high-quality materials required to maintain steady production and product delivery.


  • Prepare Requests for Quotes (RFQs) and analyze and interpret vendor quotations for purchasing decisions

  • Coordinate procurement activities and program PO/requisitions for parts, raw materials, hardware, machined parts and other goods

  • Manage inventory levels from the point of order and reconcile all inventory on an ongoing basis, including monthly audits

  • Ensure a consistent and adequate supply of materials necessary for production are in stock/on hand, and generate purchase orders in cases of additional need

  • Ensure materials meet specifications, quality standards, and are cost-efficient

  • Identify and qualify secondary sources or alternatives that meet part specifications

  • Coordinate with sales, production, and finance teams regarding production goals, timelines, and supplier payments

  • Align and track production volume to match sales forecast

  • Schedule and oversee the supply and delivery of materials and products

  • Evaluate and manage inventory issues, schedule changes, and cancellations

  • Prepare cost estimates and performance reports

  • Lead and coordinate inventory management systems, process design, and focus on scaling and optimization

  • Proactively expedite and follow up on all aspects of the entire purchasing process

  • Work with suppliers to resolve material discrepancies, outstanding or overdue deliveries, warranty claims, and RMAs

  • Manage quarterly and annual manufacturing budgets


  • 3 – 5+ years of experience in material planning, inventory management, purchasing, or related position

  • Degree in business, logistics, inventory management, manufacturing operations or related field preferred

  • Experience and proficiency with QuickBooks Online

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or material management systems

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing processes and supply chain management

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to work effectively with internal team and external resources

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
