Postion Overview

Come be an integral part of the MicaSense team, developing embedded software and firmware for our current and future payloads and sensor systems.  The ideal candidate will possess a wide variety of software engineering skills, and should be an expert in all aspects of embedded software design.

Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded software for imaging and remote sensing payload systems

  • Design and implement large portions of software components from the ground up

  • Design and implement software tools for production and test of hardware products

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree, or advanced degree, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science preferred

  • 3+ years experience developing embedded Linux applications

  • Working knowledge of Linux-based development environments

  • Strong knowledge of C/C++

  • Experience with Python or similar interpreted languages

  • Experience working hands-on with hardware and using electronic test equipment (oscilloscope, DC power supply, basic soldering)

  • Self-motivated and able to take ownership of a project with minimal oversight

  • Familiar with git-based version control for managing large software projects

  • Experience developing “bare-metal” and RTOS applications

  • Strong sense of curiosity and a desire to learn new skills

  • Authorized to work in the US

Extra Points

These attributes will push you to the front of the line:

  • Electrical design experience

  • FPGA design experience (Verilog or VHDL)

  • Experience developing linux kernel drivers

  • Experience with Ruby on Rails

  • Experience with native mobile applications on Android and/or iOS

  • Image processing experience (especially OpenCV)

  • Robotics, mechatronics, or unmanned aircraft experience
